• If We Ran It Update 6.24.08

  • We hope you 80’s babies can pick up what we’re about to put down…

Remember Voltron? That rad Japanese mecha cartoon dubbed in English & released in the US a few decades ago? Well we’ve been inspired by the “Defender of the Universe.” Not in a nu-hipster, conspicuous consumer, buy the t-shirt kind of way, but in a theory of collaboration sort of jam.

The Voltron goliath was formed by smaller machines, individual parts - that functioned separately - but became something wholly awesome and powerful when they merged into in the greater being. Nostalgic enjoyment aside, here’s the point:

This synergy has inspired how we view our collaborations. Excuse us, rather…when we come together like VOLTRON. When we meet every other Sunday in some café or Mike R.’s apartment, we ‘VOLTRON’. When we come out to bat for Internet Week/Behance/adb’s “Make Good Ideas Happen” event, we VOLTRON. When smaller entities come together to form something larger, something else entirely, something more powerful than they ever could be by themselves - in order to do good and fight the good fight - they VOLTRON.

Whether we’re making bills or supporting a cause, we strive to combine forces with like-minded organizations to achieve a common goal. We want to spread the notion of “we” and create more opportunities for more of us to work together effectively.
